I wish someone would’ve warned me about the dangers of falling in love with your best friend.

When Brea asked me for one night to help her forget, I craved being the man she needed.

Just sex.
No commitment.

Then she begged me to promise her nothing would change between us.
I couldn’t bring myself to lie to her.

One broken promise.

and now nothing will ever be the same.

Blogger Spotlight: Jemima Jamir with Sentranced Jem Blog

Blogger Spotlight: Jemima Jamir with Sentranced Jem Blog

Tell our readers and me a little bit about you and one random interesting fact!
My name is Merensola Jemima Jamir, but since that’s a mouthful, just call me Jemima or Jem. I recently turned 27 (yup..getting old people!) and I am a book blogger from Nagaland, a state in the North-eastern region of India. I may not look like an Indian but I am 100% Indian. One random fact, I MAY have a slight obsessive compulsion to keep things a certain way and I am a neat freak.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not blogging?
Jemima: Would it sound boring if I say I read, a lot? hahaha. I love to bake and spend time with my adorable niece and nephew.

Tell me how you got into the reading community and when did you first start your blog?
Jemima: I have always loved to read, the ‘obsession’ started after I read Harry Potter when I was 10 years old and it just got worse from that. The surprising thing is that I am generally a very private person and books were always an escape for me but then suddenly two months ago, I decided to start a blog and here I am.

What do you love the most about being a book blogger?
Jemima: Couple of things actually, truthfully? I really appreciate it when I do get the chance to receive an ARC. As an avid reader. It’s humbling that the authors, PR and publishing houses give the chance to bloggers and appreciate our reviews. Besides that, I have been very lucky to have ‘met’ some amazing book bloggers who have been nothing but kind to me. Also, the book community, in general, are so friendly and it’s amazing to interact with people who love reading just as much as you do. And I think it will never get old (my excitement) when an author responds back to you. Sadly there aren’t many book tours here in India from international authors, so, I think I can say this on behalf of so many book lovers here in India that -yes, we do get jealous when you put up pictures online when you meet authors that we love and admire.

What are your Top 3 favorite books and why?
Jemima: That’s a tough one. Really tough. Only 3?! (Actually starting to panic). OK.

  • The Harry Potter Series By J.K. Rowling This series will NEVER EVER get old. Even after all these years, I still get butterflies whenever I read them.
  • The thoughtless Series by S.C. Stephens. This series is sort of controversial but I love Keira and Kellan. I have lost count of the number of times I have read this book. Love it!
  • Any book by Kristen Ashley. Hands Down One of my favourite authors of all time!
  • Bonus: The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay. I love this book! I always wondered what everyone was going on and on about this one but once I was done- My world has never been the same. This one is beautiful.

Who is your favorite female lead character and what about her do you connect with most?
Jemima: Hermoine Granger. She is true to herself and isn’t ashamed of it. And that is such an attractive quality in a person in general. I also feel like she made it ‘cool’ to be nerdy, to be obsessed with reading. I love the fact that she is so smart yet isn’t snobby about it. She knows so much but doesn’t look down upon anyone.

Who is your favorite book boyfriend?
Jemima: AAHHH! You can’t ask us to pick a favourite book boyfriend! The beauty of having a book boyfriend is we can have as many as we want! hahaha! Since I am currently re-reading Carter Reed BY Tijan, I’ll say Carter Reed. That man is to die for *sigh* But I must warn you, that changes every week.

Author Spotlight: Meg Anne

Let’s start things off with you.  Tell our readers and me a little bit about you and one random interesting fact!

Hiya! I’m Meg and I write Contemporary and Fantasy Romance. Interesting fact about me… red pandas are my favorite animal! When I am having a bad day I will watch youtube videos that feature them 🙂

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not writing?

I am a giant video game nerd, so I am usually playing one of those if I’m not sleeping or bingeing on Netflix.

When did you start writing?

I started writing when I was young, mostly poems, but when I was 11 I wrote and finished my first terrible novel. I’m pretty sure my mom has a copy of it saved somewhere. I started getting serious about writing earlier this year and for the first time in a decade finished a story!

Tell me about what it was like for you writing and publishing your first book.

Surreal. I sent my book to a couple people as a joke and pretty much got threatened with bodily harm if I didn’t finish it. So I did and about two months later it was published. The fact that something that came out of my brain is out and the world and people genuinely seem to like it is freaking nuts.

Can you tell me a little bit about your recently published novel?

Mother of Shadows is the first in my fantasy romance series. It starts off with Helena learning that she is the girl mentioned in a prophecy she grew up hearing. So now, not only is she this prophecied ruler, she also inherits craptons of magic and has to learn how to use it, while also trying to find her soulmate. It does end in a cliffhanger though, so fair warning.

What’s your favorite part about being an author?

Making my stories come to life and sharing them with others. Having people that are as invested in the outcome as I am is my favorite!

Where do you get your best ideas?

I brainstorm a lot in traffic, but the moments between hitting the snooze button, when I’m awake but mostly dreaming… that’s where some of my best scenes have come to life.

What are you currently working on?  Do you have any new projects coming up?

I’m currently finishing Book 2 in the Chosen series: Reign of Ash, which is due out in January. I also have two short stories coming out soon. One is a holiday contemporary romance in the 25 Days of Christmas anthology which comes out Dec 1st. The other is a PNR novella that is part of the Vixen Falls anthology coming out in January. 🙂

Blogger Spotlight: Sanzana Syed with Urban Book Hangovers

Let’s start things off with you. Tell our readers and me a little bit about you and one random interesting fact!
My name is Sanzana, but I also go by Ana. I am 22 years old and i’m from Toronto. I’ve been blogging for roughly 4 years now and it’s one of the best ways to be involved with the book community (besides being a reader, of course). One interesting fact about me is that I’ve designed an entire magazine from scratch and had it published online (in a PDF at least).

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not blogging?
So I’m currently in my final year of Journalism, so most of my days are spent writing articles about local news in the city as well as writing opinion pieces for my college’s newspaper. That alone takes a chuck of my time. Some days I don’t get a chance to blog because right after school I have work. I currently work in retail at Bath and Body Works and it is the best retail job I’ve had to date. I usually read in my spare time and edit photos that I’ve taken recently.

Tell me how you got into the reading community and when did you first start your blog?
I’ve always been a reader, but I think during my first year in university 4 years ago, I stumbled upon Dearest Clementine by Lex Martin. It was my first NA novel and I fell in love with it. I left my first review on Goodreads and Ms. Martin ended up commenting on my review. I was stunned and I did a bit of research and joined her FB group that she recommended to me. Being in that group prompted me to start my own blog where I could leave reviews of the books I’ve loved and raved over. After that, I signed up with PR companies to sign up for posts and here we are today!

What do you love the most about being a book blogger?
I attended my second signing in New York City on Oct 14 and met all my favourite authors I’ve worked closely with. It was a dream come true and I’ve come to appreciate the amount of love and dedication indie authors give to their fans. Not to discredit published authors, but during this signing, I felt like I was friends with these authors and their love was so genuine. And the best part about book blogging is the people you meet along the way. The readers, the mutual bloggers, and the amazing authors who dedicate their life to writing.

What are your top 3 favorite books and why?
I’ll start off with my #1 read of 2017 – A Little Too Late by Staci Hart
The cover is gorgeous and pure. This book is a beautiful mixture of something soft and delicate with a haunting broken feeling. My heart clenched, bled, wept, and brighten up throughout the entire novel.

Dearest Clementine by Lex Martin (naturally)
It’s the book that started it all! This book was immersive and very well written. The characters are dynamic and to this day, I still haven’t read a character like Clementine yet. She’s a unique female lead who is very strong and a fighter. If you like college romances, I highly recommend this series. Plus it’s a standalone!
Ten Below Zero by Whitney Barbetti
This novel is heavy and even if you aren’t a crier, this book brings a lot of emotions to surface. Whitney doesn’t like writing rom-com romances and really likes to delve into hard, impactful reads that not many romance authors write about. She tells you straight up who her characters are you see the develop as you read on.

Who is your favorite female lead character and what about her do you connect with most?
One of the main reasons why A Little Too Late is my favourite read is because Hannah, the main female lead, is a lot like me. And I think I’m a very complex character and haven’t met any character that’s like me. Besides being the same age as me, Hannah is a healer. She’s a beacon of light to people in the dark, especially for the male lead in this book. She’s soft in  a way that reminds you of home. I typically love strong female leads (think Wonder Woman) in novels, but she’s a beautiful paradox of a character and you cannot help but love her.

Who is your favorite book boyfriend?
Ugh this is the world’s hardest question ever. Currently it’s Racer Tate, from Racer by Katy Evans. I am a sucker for blue eyes and everything about him screams “intense male character”. He’s also the kind of guy I can depend on if things end up getting too tough for me. He’s a sexy beast.

Let’s start things off with you. Tell our readers and me a little bit about you and one random interesting fact!

Heyo! I hail from Seattle, WA, and I have the sweater collection to prove it. BUT, veritable East Coast-West Coast hybrid, having spent exactly half of my life on both sides of the country. Something random…how about a few? I’m a classically trained pianist, but I only play for my four-year-old these days.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not writing?

I love to play music, go running, hang out with my girlfriends. Seattle is a great city for the outdoors, but I don’t get out as much as I’d like. Honestly, my fave thing is to sit in a coffee shop and read. HEAVEN.

When did you start writing?

When I learned to write letters. I’m not kidding. I have my first “book” stashed somewhere in a cardboard box. I was six years old, and it’s a parable about a whaler who becomes friends with a whale and learns to stop killing them. My school principal gave me a Red Apple award (which was basically a sticky note that said “Good Job!” on it. But I was very proud).

Tell me about what it was like for you writing and publishing your first book.

Legally Yours came fast and furious. I drafted it in about two months, all 160 thousand-plus words of it. Then I stuck it in a drawer for two years before I got up the guts to edit and publish it. But in the end, I had to. Stories are meant to be shared.

Can you tell me a little bit about your recently published novel?

Bad Idea is an even scarier book for me to publish because it’s so personal. It’s based, a little, on some of my experiences as a student in New York City just after 9/11. The romance between Layla Barros (an NYU student) and Nico Soltero (a Puerto Rican FedEx courier) is fictionaland characters are all fictional, of course, but the way the book moves through the city and tests the differences of class and race between all its residents is very real. It’s my love letter to New York.

What’s your favorite part about being an author?

Getting licensed to be a crazy lady. I talk to my characters in my car. I mean, I did that before I actually wrote them down, but now I can claim there is a reason to it.

Where do you get your best ideas?

In my sleep. I dream plotlines ALL the time. I dreamed the entire first three chapters of Legally Yours, woke up at three a.m., and wrote for the rest of the night.

What are you currently working on? Do you have any new projects coming up?

I’m working on the second installment of the Bad Idea series. People are already yowling at me for the second book, so I need to get on that. I also have a few other side projects I’m working on, but Bad Idea Vol. II is front and center.
